Discovering Your Gifts.
Bob Cass said “I remember my own early struggles in the ministry. It felt like I was stuck in an elevator afraid I’d spend the rest of my life between floors going nowhere. Yet, it was concern over the future, plus my fear of failing that kept me failing, that kept me on my knees. That’s where I learned to depend on God.” Everything big starts with something small. Don’t be afraid to take small steps. Just make them steps of faith and God will work with you. Romans 11:29(NIV) tells us that God’s gift and his calls are irreversible. God never removes His gift from your life even if you haven’t discovered your gift yet, or you’re running from it, or you feel like you’ve abused it. God’s gifts are never loans, they are deposits and as such they are never depleted. The more you exercise them, the stronger they become. If you are just believing God for things you can do for yourself, you are limiting Him. If your vision is truly from God, it will stretch you beyond your present resources. The difference between your vision and resources is your opportunity to experience the “exceeding greatness of His power.” When you find yourself experiencing things which are beyond your ability that’s when you know God’s at work, demonstrating the exceeding greatness of His power. You’ve got to figure out the “one thing” you were born to be, and be Willing to pay the price to be it.
Its amazing the moment we’re born, somebody decides that this wrinkly, toothless, bald baby looks exactly like so and so and then they say you are this or you are that before you know, you grow up believing that stuff and sell yourself short because somebody labelled you. Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, and because you’re poor, uneducated or physically challenged or of a certain nationality or because of a mistake in your past. Don’t let them limit you. Get rid of your life limiting thoughts! Start dreaming. You were born with an assignment; don’t die until you’ve fulfilled it. Don’t contribute to the wealth of the grave. One of the most painful thing in life is a life without purpose and as Myles Munroe of Blessed Memory will say “The wealthiest place in the world are not the gold mines or banks. The wealthiest place is the cemetery. There lies companies that were never started, masterpieces that were never painted. There buried is the greatest treasure of untapped potential. There is a treasure within you that must come out. Don’t go to grave with your treasure still within you”. I want you to know that your God given talent will tug your heart. It will lead to your highest fulfillment. It will unlock your compassion and creativity. Whatever you were called to be, a butcher, Baker, whatsoever, those principles never change. They’re timeless. When God calls you to do something, He prepares you in advance. This is how God does his things: He’ll give you an emotional investment in the work He’s called you to do. He begins with your character, then He works on your calling. He never wastes experience. Impossible tasks can be accomplished if you keep doing one at a time. The practice of systematically doing the right thing that yields results over time. Before others can catch a vision, it must be born in the heart of one person and God will never give you a vision you can fulfill alone. He’ll bring others along side to compensate for your weakness.
God knows what you’re being trained for, and when the time is right He’ll make it clear to you. In the meantime stay in school and keep learning. Stop trying to be what you’re not and discover what you are. Instead of comparing yourself to others, recognize what God has called you to be, accept the gift He’s given you and start building on it.
